claim procedure

Unfortunately accidents may occur, and we want to assure you that we work with you until conclusion if a claim exists. Coverage and procedures vary depending upon the type of move.


COVERAGE: Your coverage is agreed in advance of your move, either by order-to-service, or contract/tariff provisions.
Limited Carrier Liability: Typically limited to $.60 per pound per article without election of additional coverage.
Full Value Protection: Coverage extended to repairs, replacement with like kind, or replacement value, the lower amount applies.

Deductible: Similar to auto insurance, a single deductible may apply to your move (if elected). Deductible coverage is available on interstate moves including $0, $250, $500, $750, and $1,000 amounts, as elected. For local/intrastate California orders, $0, $250, and $500 deductibles may be elected. Some agents may not provide all deductible coverages within California


Household Goods
Local/intrastate/interstate: Claims must be filed within 9 months, or prior to a subsequent move. Please keep all claimed items for inspection. Claims must be filed in writing, for a specific amount, and signed by the claimant. Please download the attached form, and e-mail back as an attachment to admin@excelmoving.com, fax to 510-324-9716, or mail to EXCEL Moving Services, 30047 Ahern Avenue, Union City, CA 94587.


Internationally: Claim filing will depend upon the arrangement made at origin. Most overseas coverage is limited to filing within 90 days, while some coverage may only extend to 30 days. Please retrieve your shipping records to determine what applies for your move. Office Moving: Please contact ASAP EXCEL. We understand that each office and industrial claim must be looked at separately if it involves an item or items that is critical to the day-to-day operation of the business, and/or involves 3rd parties, such as property managers and/or other tenants. Please call 800-392-3596.


GSA/MILITARY: Although claims may be filed up to 9 months (or longer in some cases), liability may be limited to documented damage on delivery, or submitted on proper government forms (DD1840) within 75 days of delivery.


Other exceptions may apply when altered by contract or specific tariff provisions. The above is provided as a general guide, but acknowledges that your claim procedure is detailed by the terms of your specific moving contract/order-for-service.
